Review by Tony Cannella
LAWS OF GRAVITY are a good hard rockin' four piece band out of Astoria, New York. They are fronted by female vocalist Rebecca Haviland. The band is completed by Mike Dijan (guitar), Harry Kazakos (bass) and Ray Greene (drums). LOG have recently issued their 4-song demo and it is chock full of memorable riffs and just good, rootsy, no frills rock n' roll.
'Tanpura' is the lead off track and right away this song will get your head bobbing and your feet tapping. Rebecca has a strong set of pipes. Powerful, strong and emotional. The next track 'Sunday' is a number that has a nice melody to it and the track gets very heavy around the middle. It also has a very dreamy vibe. The next song 'Take It All' is a straight forward hard rock track, that almost has a punk like feel to it. Just pounding and heavy, at 2 and a half minutes long, this is the shortest track, but also really catchy and infectious. 'Dance Song' closes things out on a high note. It is a bouncy rock number, that I will bet anything sounds great live. In fact, I am sure that all four songs would sound great live, they have the energy and feel of a live band.
Make no mistake about it, LAWS OF GRAVITY are just a good, no frills, rock and roll band. The four songs and 14-minutes worth of music contained on this disc feature hard driving riffs, memorable songs and loads of energy. LAWS OF GRAVITY are a band that is definitely worth exploring.
